Top of the Range Customised TS – 2042 and Skid Mounted Hopper acquired for a Major Ship Un-loading Project for Cemex
Telestack’s ever expanding fleet of ship loading and un-loading machinery in the UK has been further enhanced by the recent acquisition by Cemex of a customised, 2000 TPH, ship unloading system for their facility situated at Jarrow, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The TS 2042 and skid-mounted hopper combination are used in a ship un-loading application to stockpile imported ‘all in cargoes’ of sand and gravel up to 200mm. The all in cargo is unloaded from the ship into a Telestack flared hopper where it is conveyed up to the TS 2042 for stockpiling.
The Telestack hopper used also plays an integral part in ensuring the smooth running of the operation. It was designed in conjunction with the clients needs specifically with its task in mind. As with the TS 2042, the skid mounted hopper was built to a very high specification including a full break system which was implemented to reduce belt wear and the impact on the rollers. Galvanised dust covers and Hosch scrapers were also used.
This TS – 2042 is the largest capacity machine in the telescopic range and due to the vigorous demands of its application it was built to an extremely high specification including; fully galvanised steel work, stainless steel control panel and electrics, automatic stockpiling programme, Hosch scrapers, wind boards, isolators fitted on all drive motors, galvanised double access catwalks, double key captive lock system and access gates, remote controls, class 1 efficiency on all motors, hardox wear plates and chrome over stainless steel lift rams.
The remote control system used allows ship captains to have control of the telestacker and hopper functions. This means that they can operate the entire procedure without ever having to leave the vessel.
The site manager for Cemex, Paul Mc Ilvenny, was very impressed with the machines’ performance and explained why they decided to use Telestack products in this operation when he said.
